We’re in the midst of season 4 of The Anxiety Summit www.theanxietysummit.com and here are wise words of wisdom from some of our amazing speakers on MS, oxytocin, red meat, marijuana, mercury and more.
If you have joined the summit and are loving it, this serves as a nice recap, a reminder if you missed a talk and inspiration to stay tuned in for some of the later interviews. And making sure you know that each speaker has a blog with snippets and many additional resources.
And if you’ve recently joined my community for the summit a VERY big welcome!
If you have not yet signed up I hope these wise words inspire you to join us!
Here are some snippets from some of the interviews.
Multiple sclerosis and anxiety: The Wahls Protocol
Dr. Terry Wahls shares how her MS was a gift:
And it all needs to happen this way Trudy. I had to get that disabled. I had to be on the verge of utter catastrophe to begin to feel the effects of cognitive decline to do all this work and then feel the effects of all this healing that happens when you provide a healthy habitat for the human ecosystem and all this repair happens. If this hadn’t of have happened I’d still be a conventional medicine doc thinking the latest drugs out of the New England Journal of Medicine were the way to go as opposed to seeing the gospel of food and sleep and movement and stress reduction.
The Link Between Low Cholesterol and Low Oxytocin
The Pitocin/synthetic discussion oxytocin with Dr. Kurt Woeller was fascinating:
And there’s a theory … that the Pitocin, which is synthetic oxytocin, which is given to women who are not naturally going into labor, it’s meant to action speed labor up. Pitocin being synthetic oxytocin may short circuit in some susceptible kids the natural production of oxytocin, therefore slowing down or turning off those areas in the brain that are normally being developed at that time, with regards to socialization.
Gluten and anxiety: the testing conundrum solution
Dr. Tom O’Bryan’s explanation of the limited gluten sensitivity testing that most people have done:
what happens when people have one of those peptides that the immune system is fighting that’s not the 33 [alpha-gliadin] and you do a blood test for gluten sensitivity. If your doctor orders the common blood test for gluten sensitivity and it looks for alpha-gliadin and it comes back negative and your doctors says you’re fine eating wheat. See, here’s the blood test. Well you can get a false negative meaning it says there’s no problem when there really is because your body’s fighting other peptides of wheat.
Nutrients that Fuel Brain Power and Reduce Anxiety
Dr. Drew Ramsey talks about zinc and animal protein:
Zinc is a mineral and minerals tend to be more absorbable in animal forms. I think a lot of people are very confused about meat and seafood and often intimidated and scared. And then we’ve had this message to go plant based and even vegan which is not a diet that is healthy for the brain.
Dr. Hyla Cass, integrative psychiatrist covers marijuana and anxiety later in the summit:
very often people who have been smoking marijuana for a while – when they go off it they go through serious withdrawal – anxiety, insomnia, feeling really very bad. Very much like we see in movies – we understand what it’s like getting off heroin when people go through withdrawal. Very similar, it really looks similar in appearance. Not everyone does that but common enough.
Dr. John Dempster, co-host of the Mental Wellness Summit discusses mercury as a neurotoxin in his interview later in the summit
So I kind of want to shed some light on some of these areas and how it can affect anxiety directly. One of the big areas is mercury itself is a neurotoxin. So how does that impact our biochemistry and our physiology? Well what it’s going to do it’s going to start to disrupt on an endocrine and a neurotransmitter level some of our pathways. And one of the big pathways is actually the glutamate connection and the glutamate pathway. And glutamate is something that’s known as an excitatory neurotransmitter and this is something that if we have too much of it or it’s not being reuptake properly in our synapses we start to exhibit different types of symptoms of anxiety. And of course that’s just one possible trigger for anxiety.
You can see a list of all the speakers and topics here on the master speaker blog.

Just wondered if there is more or any info relate to slow transit / delayed emptying / gastroparesis motility issues.
T. This Summit is incredible/ have signed several people up/Serotonin is in the gut & brain correct? Kathy
Trudy Scott says
Kathleen
Thanks for sharing the summit, glad you’re finding it incredible. Most serotonin is made in the gut and when it’s low it can affect transit/motility. We don’t cover this in other interviews this season but here are some resources: Liz Lipski’s book Digestive Wellness (https://www.everywomanover29.com/blog/anxiety-digestion-microbiome-stomach-acid-bile-vagus-nerve/), Dr. Siebecker’s site http://www.siboinfo.com and the interview I did with Dr. Siebecker on season 3 https://www.everywomanover29.com/blog/anxiety-summit-intestinal-bacterial-overgrowth-anxiety/ (if SIBO is also the issue. We do plan to talk a lot about serotonin in Dr. Bongiorno’s interview on Sunday

Thank you Trudy! Truly enjoyed the summary of the summit thus far. I appreciate ALL the hard work, time and knowledge that everyone has provided. It so elevates my opinion of professionals like yourself & others in the Summit, who want to educate others. Why? Because you see the dire state that so many of us are in & heading. It’s like if someone wants their home to be & feel wonderful we need to rally our neighbors to be & feel wonderful. I hope I expressed myself understandably. Again Thank You ALL!
Trudy Scott says
Thank you Regina and yes we are all trying to help as many people as we can. And yes I hear exactly what you are saying – it’s a truly amazing group of speakers!

You rock!! I’m a snobby MD. I criticize everyone who has established an online presence in healthcare that doesn’t have an advanced degree. And I criticize them too! (BTW, I’m not proud of this.) I’ve pretty much deleted most of the healthcare emails and newsletters I get, but I kept yours. I wasn’t sure why. Today I was listening to the Anxiety Summit and I’m so impressed with your knowledge and interview skills.
Trudy Scott says
Well Mr Snobby MD
Thanks for your honesty and for making me laugh BUT most of all thanks for taking the time to comment here.
And thank you for your very kind words. Please do stick around and listen to the rest of the summit – there are plenty of excellent interviews with brilliant practitioners and others coming up. Be warned some do not have advanced degrees either 🙂

Hello Trudy, ive got ur book and been following along with you for a while. I am listening to your summit. Loving the new snippetts of info coming out and new practitioners to follow.
BUT I need a quick answer about Gaba. I have ordered Source Nats caps and am going to start at 125mg as you would do with a new client.
Bullet point history. Coeliac, then gen depression/anxiety disorder, given ssri. 20 years later and after many attempts finally off, just. Have done by changing ssri down to Prozac (worst side effects on them) but have been easiest to stop, hence the change. But i want to supplement naturally. Have read all your bits and bobs.
However, in reading about Gaba i have comes across some info that says it will cause weight loss and/or no appetite.
Is this true because while coming off the ssri i lost 20kgs and became medically underweight and am desperately trying to gain, not lose.
Any truth to the weight liss and Gaba? Thankyou so much.
Also going to try Trypto but one thing at a time.

Have never read anything about weightloss or seen this with GABA. It does reduce stress cravings so in that way (due to less carbs) it could result in weight-loss
Isolde Schober-Panayi says
Hi Trudy,
I am listening to most of the interviews with great interest, Now my question for Dr. Woeller is as follows: He spoke about the use of synthetic oxytocin and what a too high dosis could make kids do. I am a pre- and perinatal educator in Austria and am currently working with a 2 year old IVF baby. She is showing the same symptoms that he prescribes for too much oxytocin given, like ” oh, Mama, this fennel tastes soooooo gooood.” The parents are seeing me with her, because she seems to have no way of feeling “full” or satisfied with her food. She enjoys her food and doesn’t stop eating by herself. She is very round already, but was also born 1 month premature with a birth weight of 3,10 kg, which is quite normal. So it seems, that the eating pattern stems from an earlier programming then the birth.
So I am wondering, if Dr. Woeller knows anything about the IVF process and if there is a time, the eggs or sperm or the blastocyst are in contact with pitocin or any other chemical, that could have a similar effect and program the cells on wanting to eat for ever.
Thanks, best Isolde

I will see if Dr Woeller can come and comment
